Located on Birmingham's Southside, Highlands United Methodist has long been called the church where the city and suburbs meet. It's in the heart of Five Points South, Birmingham's entertainment district that has been called "the jewel of the city."

Members come from all over the city and beyond. Some travel 45 minutes or more to make this congregation their church family, while others live close enough to hear the church bells chiming from their homes.

The church is immediately behind the landmark fountain at Five Points South - the intersection of 20th Street South, 11th Avenue South, and Magnolia Avenue - and just down the mountain from Vulcan. The church shares the intersection with The 5 Points Grill (formerly The Mill), Original Pancake House, and Schaeffer Eye Center.
