Youth Ministry at Highlands UMC

Youth ministry at Highlands UMC is an extremely active program of fellowship, Bible study, missions and service, and worship. We currently have approximately 25 youth ranging from 6th grade to 12th grade who attend a variety of schools, including Mountain Brook, Vestavia, Hoover, Indian Springs, International Baccalaureate, and School of the Advent, which makes for a dynamic youth group. In addition, we have a wonderful group of adults who volunteer their time with the youth group.

The group currently meets for Sunday School, Sunday evenings, and Bible studies, in addition to varied opportunities for service during the week.   The youth program at Highlands also includes several annual events. Each summer, the group participates in Appalachia Service Project, sending work teams to the Appalachian mountains for a week to repair homes and build relationships.  February always includes Discovery, a weekend of spiritual formation and growth for all youth.  Quarterly workdays throughout the year are part of the program as is the fifth Saturday program to host Community Ministries.
